How to Convert Mercury Bank Statements to CSV

Mercury is a banking platform built specifically for startups and technology companies. Unlike most traditional banks, Mercury was designed with financial data export in mind. The dashboard includes built-in CSV export for transactions, which means you often do not need to deal with PDF conversion at all.

That said, Mercury also generates monthly PDF statements (required by regulators for any bank-equivalent institution), and there are situations where the PDF format is what you actually need, whether for auditors, loan applications, or accounting workflows that require an official statement rather than a transaction export.

Option 1: Native CSV export from Mercury (the faster path)

Mercury's transaction export is available directly from the dashboard and requires no third-party tools.

  1. Log in to your Mercury account at mercury.com.
  2. Navigate to the Transactions tab.
  3. Use the date range filter to select the period you want.
  4. Click the Export button (usually in the upper right of the transactions view).
  5. Select CSV as the format and download the file.

Mercury's CSV export includes: Date, Description, Amount, Status, Bank Account, and Category columns. The format is clean and imports into Excel, Google Sheets, QuickBooks, and Xero without significant cleanup.

Option 2: Downloading Mercury PDF statements

Mercury generates monthly statement PDFs for each account. These are accessible from the account settings area.

  1. Log in to mercury.com.
  2. Click on the account you want (checking or savings).
  3. Look for Statements in the account menu or settings area.
  4. Select the month and download the PDF.

Mercury is backed by FDIC-insured partner banks (Choice Financial Group and Evolve Bank & Trust as of early 2026), and the monthly statements are issued under those banks' names. The PDF format follows a standard bank statement layout with account details, a transaction table, and opening and closing balances.

Converting Mercury PDF statements to CSV

If you need to work from the PDF rather than the native CSV export, upload the statement to Statement Pro. Mercury's PDF statements follow a consistent format that converts cleanly to structured CSV data.

When you might need PDF conversion instead of the native export:

  • Your accountant or auditor requires the official monthly statement document rather than a transaction export
  • You need a specific statement period that does not align with Mercury's export date ranges
  • You are working with Mercury statements from a previous period and want them in the same format as your other bank data

Importing Mercury data into QuickBooks Online

Mercury does not have a direct QuickBooks integration as of early 2026, but the CSV export imports cleanly through QuickBooks' bank transaction upload. Go to Transactions > Bank Transactions > File Upload, select your account, and upload the CSV. Map the Date, Description, and Amount columns when prompted.

Mercury's Amount column uses negative values for money leaving the account and positive values for money coming in, which matches what QuickBooks expects.

Importing Mercury data into Xero

Go to Accounting > Bank Accounts in Xero, select your Mercury account, and click Import a Statement. Upload the CSV file and map the columns. Xero will recognize Mercury's date format (typically YYYY-MM-DD) automatically.

Tips for startup accounting with Mercury

Mercury's native CSV includes a Category column that reflects how Mercury has categorized each transaction. These categories are useful for a quick overview but may not match your accounting chart of accounts exactly. Plan to review and reclassify transactions in your accounting tool after import.
